What is Lifestyle Psychology?

Based on the foundations of Lifestyle Medicine, Lifestyle Psychology uses a blend of lifestyle and psychological interventions that have been evidenced to prevent, alleviate, and/or manage mental health conditions.

Lifestyle approaches to the treatment of depression and other mood disorders are recommended by the National Institutes of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and The Royal Australian & New Zealand Royal College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). Lifestyle interventions focus on everyday factors such as physical activity, sleep, diet, mindfulness, social connection, work, and time in nature. These strategies are safe, low-cost, and adaptable across a range of settings, offering benefits not only for mental health but also for overall physical wellbeing. When combined with tailored behaviour change lifestyle interventions can complement psychological therapies, empowering you with practical tools that enhance recovery, resilience, and overall quality of life.
